Quintiles Named a Contender in Fortune Magazine’s Annual “Most Admired Company” Listing

Quintiles Transnational Corp. was recently named a “contender” in Fortune’s annual listing of the “Most Admired Companies” in the United States.

Fortune calls its list the “definitive report card on corporate reputations,” and Quintiles is the only pharmaceutical services company to receive this recognition for 2007.

“This distinction represents a tremendous accomplishment for our company,” says Quintiles Transnational Corp. Chairman and CEO Dennis Gillings, CBE (pictured right). “Since incorporating 25 years ago, Quintiles has worked hard to build its reputation, and we are now the world’s leading full-service pharmaceutical services organization. It is an honor to be recognized by Fortune and included alongside so many of America’s other top corporations.”

Fortune lists 306 companies as “Most Admired” in addition to five winners and five contenders divided into 63 different industries. Both winners and contenders scored highly in eight categories: innovation, people management, use of corporate assets, social responsibility, quality of management, financial soundness, long-term investment, and quality of products or services.

Quintiles ranked tenth overall in the Diversified Outsourcing Services industry category, based in large part on the strength of its strong scores in the social responsibility, innovation and people management categories.

“These rankings reflect our ongoing efforts in these key categories,” says Gillings. “We’re working to distinguish ourselves in a highly competitive industry, and I believe our commitment to customers and executing against our goals is helping to fuel our growth and strengthen our position in the marketplace.”

Overall, General Electric topped this year’s list, followed by Starbucks, Toyota, Berkshire Hathaway, Southwest Airlines, FedEx, Apple, Google, Johnson & Johnson and Procter & Gamble.
